The 12 Bookmarks of Christmas

It’s the holiday season once again, so I’ve decided to postpone my florilegium one more week for a gift-themed post. Oftentimes, when I write these gift lists, I promote items I think look cool, but that I personally don’t own. This year, I’ve decided I want to be the hype woman for an indie business I’ve personally fallen in love with this year and highlight twelve items from their shop that I would buy (or have already bought) in a heartbeat.

My indie store of choice for 2021 is Etsy shop, Booked by Brenda. Brenda’s shop features fandom-themed trinkets including stickers and drinkware, but what I’m truly obsessed with are her bookmarks.

Any good reader has a favorite way to mark a page in their current read. Some go the minimalist root and use the book jacket around their hardback. There’s the traditionalist with a standard bookmark. The overachievers are the ones who down a book in one sitting and don’t need bookmarks. Others are McGyvers and use receipts, paper shreds, post-it notes, or any other household item they can shove between pages. Then there are the sadistic readers who dog-ear– but I refuse to focus on them for too long.

I use to fall into the category of McGyver until I discovered the ultimate solution to my page marking woes: the magnetic bookmark. Standard bookmarks have a tendency to slip out, down, under, and around, but with the magnetic bookmark your spot is perfectly snug and secure.

There are a ton of shops on Etsy that sell magnetic bookmarks but I personally found Brenda’s the most enticing because of all of the different fandoms featured. From The Office to Edward Scissorhands and everything in between, I promise you’ll find a bookmark you like at this shop. Most of the bookmarks start at a reasonable $2.75, with the more elaborate designs coming in around $4.50. They’re the perfect stocking stuffer for your favorite book lover, but the last day to place an order for a stateside delivery before Christmas Eve is December 16th, so get those orders in like, yesterday!

Also be sure to give Brenda a follow on Instagram and TikTok @bookedbybrenda for updates and monthly raffles! Without further ado, here are my 12 bookmarks of Christmas brought to you by Booked by Brenda.

4. Mary Sanderson

Having bought these bookmarks close to Halloween I was on a Hocus Pocus and Halloween Town high. Mary has always been my favorite Sanderson sister, so I had to snag her.
