Poem inspired by Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
I need to work on my confidence. Everyone prefers a woman who doesn't know her power; I'm sick of all that. People don't find it very endearing, a woman who puts herself first. No one is a saint. (we're all whores really, in some way or another.) I was beautiful. But it didn't mean anyone loved me. It's not my place to go making up the rules. Love can be ugly. I still hear your voice in my head— deeply, deeply human. I fall into happiness like taking my bra off at the end of the day. A star is forever and always a star.
